Tomorrow is my daughters 4th birthday party. She wants a princess party. I looked around to find out how much it would be to have a 'real' life princess come to our home and host a party. These parties range from $150-$350. WOWZA. I am not about to pay that for a few games and a princess. So I have been thinking what are we going to do. Although 10 children are a lot for a 4 yr olds party we've only invited 4 families and the girls have girl siblings. Each girl will come in their favorite princess dress. We will have a Carvel Ice Cream cake that should be around $20, a cheese and craker plate $10, a craft and some favors.
I am going to the 99cent store to see if they have boa's or some kind of princess jewelry as favors. As a craft I will look for little boxes the girls can decorate with colors, markers and jewels. There is a store up the street from my work called SAS Fabric by the Pound. They sell jewels by the pound for a very good price, as I've found jewels to be very expensive in the other craft stores. I may also pick up some pipe cleaner for the girls to make crowns. My budget is to do her party for less than $50.
In searching the internet for princess craft ideas, I found some really great sites with crafts you can do for very cheap. Cheap is always my ultimate goal :o). Disney even has some great ideas for crafts as well as princess printables.
One of my favorite sites for years has been http://www.makingfriends.com/f_Friends.htm. My kids love these paper dolls and all it cost me is the ink for the printer and paper. They have lots of craft kits and free craft paterns.
I'll post back in a few days to let you know what the party actually cost me.
